Embryo – Colour Monotype (1985)
€2.000,00
Colour monotype · 25 × 25 cm · 1985
A square sheet of great concentration: the embryo form as a primal image of becoming and protection, in strong, reduced fields of colour. An early work in printmaking with securely documented details.
Background
The monotype is the one off among printmaking processes. The colour is painted onto a smooth, uncut plate and transferred to the paper in a single pass; a second impression of equal quality can no longer be taken afterwards. The technique therefore combines the spontaneity of painting with the depth of the print. Edgar Degas used it in the 19th century for some of his best known series.
